This simple diagram may have the distinction of being the first map to be printed in Manitoba, in 1879. It seems to have been composed from type available in a printing shop, and not engraved on lithographic stone. Not only is it a street map of Winnipeg just before the transfer of Rupert’s Land to Canada, but a land use map as well. Post Office Street is present Lombard Street.
